Amongst other occupations, I have been the secretary of “Association Amicale des Expéditions Polaires Françaises” (AAEPF). This association brought together people having participated in campaigns in the Antarctic or in the Arctic with the EPF or with the IPEV (Institut Polaire français Paul-Emile Victor) which succeeded to it. My main job, in this activity, was to update the website of the association, where one could find, among other things, news sent every month by Dumont d’Urville French base. After the merging of AAEPF with Amicale des Missions Australes et POlaires Françaises (AMAPOF) in 2012, the new association becomes: Amicale des Missions Australes Et Polaires Françaises (AMAEPF). You’ll find the AMAEPF website address, with a few other ones, inside the “MY LINKS” page. |

| I’m a French citizen. I was born near Paris, in January 1941. I am an electronic engineer. My first job, after the military service, has been with the French Polar Expeditions (EPF), created and headed by Paul-Emile Victor. I went to the French base Dumont d’Urville, where I stayed one year. I spent, then, my three-month holidays, travelling from Australia to Paris, through South-East Asia. It is this experience I wish to present on this site. After that, I was engaged by the French National Centre for Scientific Research (CNRS) where I went on, till 1992, working for the external geophysics observatories of Dumont d’Urville (Antarctic) and Port-aux-Français (Kerguelen islands – French Southern and Antarctic Lands – TAAF) bases. This occupation allowed me to travel frequently. I’ll try to present some of my other journeys in this website. I ended, then, my career (until the end of 2004) as co-ordinator of the atmospheric research aircraft of CNRS. I am, now, retired and I live in Cesena (Italy), in the heart of Romagna.

| All the photos, on this website, have been taken with a Nikon F, lens Nikkor 50 mm aperture f/2 or, sometimes, with lens Nikkor 200 mm aperture f/4. The film used, most of the time, was Kodachrome II (sensibility 25 ISO) or, when the light was weak, Ektachrome (sensibility 160 ISO). The slides have been scanned in 4/3 format (cutting off, then, a small part of their length), with a resolution in pixel of 2592 x 1944. They have been reduced later, to 800 x 600 for this website. You can copy and use these photos as you like. I’d just prefer you don’t use them for a commercial scope.
